| The Whitworth Rushcart Festival returned once again on Sunday 7th of September 2008, this time as an afternoon event rather than on Friday evenings as before, this made it much more of a family event, which seemed to be very much enjoyed by all the participants and spectators. In spite of a few heavy showers the weather stayed fine whilst the procession travelled down Market Street from the 'Riverside' (Civic Hall) at Facit, to the Red Lion pub in Whitworth Square, where many other events were taking place.
